15 local councils from
across the Maldives will take part in the “Seminar for Local Council Members
of Maldives”, scheduled to be held in Beijing, China, from July 8 to July
28. A total of 20 participants will join the program, including 15
representatives from local councils, 4 from the Local Government Authority
(LGA), and 1 from the Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works
(MOCLP).
The seminar aims to
strengthen leaders’ commitments abroad and build a platform for cooperation and
exchange on public services and local governance. It also supports the Maldives
in enhancing its independent development capabilities and nurturing governance
talents with global vision and strong leadership. This initiative is expected
to contribute to building a community with a shared future between China and
the Maldives in the future.
Participants will get the
opportunity learn about China’s national conditions and modernization efforts,
the governance philosophy of Chinese leaders, leadership development for senior
officials, e-government and administrative modernization, China’s political
system and local government structures, poverty reduction strategies, blue
economic development, tourism economy and industrial upgrading, as well as
e-commerce development.
