The “Training of Trainers
(ToT) Program on GEMS Workspace and Microsoft-365” was successfully conducted
from May 20 to 22, 2025, at the NCIT Auditorium, Malé. The program was jointly organized by the Local
Government Authority (LGA), the Maldives Institute of Local Governance (MILG),
and the National Center for Information Technology (NCIT).
The primary objective of
the training was to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to
enhance and manage council administrative functions using Microsoft-365 tools
and NCIT’s GEMS Workspace. In addition, the program focused on enabling participants
to effectively transfer this knowledge to fellow council members and staff.
Throughout the three-day
program, participants engaged in sessions on utilizing Microsoft-365
applications to improve administrative efficiency, navigating and applying the
features of the GEMS Workspace, and developing strategies for sharing this
knowledge with other councils. A key outcome of the training was the drafting
of a plan outlining administrative measures to support the implementation of
Microsoft-365 tools in council operations.
A total of 45 participants —
32 from Atoll Councils, 9 from City Councils and 4 from LGA — took part in the
training. The program concluded with a closing ceremony, where certificates
were presented to all participants.
